Youth Drop Another One
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 10-7, at Imps Park. Ithaca center fielder Nelson Rivera was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Randy Nixon picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-4. Sean Neely was tagged with the loss. Jeffery Brock picked up the save, his 12th.
Had Jimmy Robinson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Robinson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Fighting Imps.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Robinson.
The 4th-place Youth have lost 5 straight games.
