Fans who gathered at Blue Sox Ballpark saw a good contest between the Virginia Beach Whales and Irving Blue Sox.

The Virginia Beach Whales took Irving pitcher Ramón Flores's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Blue Sox Ballpark. The final score had Virginia Beach getting past the Blue Sox, 5-3. Flores went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 3. Nicolaas de Jongh finished the game for Virginia Beach and earned his 3rd save.

Ernest O'Neal's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from José Colón for a run-scoring single. It put Virginia Beach in front, 3-2.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said O'Neal.

Virginia Beach is now 34-13, 2 games up in the Silver AA.
