Love Boats Slip Past Irving, 3-2

The Irving Blue Sox got a sterling performance from pitcher Ralph Minor, but the Love Boats still prevailed, 3-2. Minor was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Lake Minnetonka reliever Román Ornelas picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Napoleon Vitagliano was saddled with the loss. Takejiro Masuda recorded his 3rd save for Lake Minnetonka.
The result might have been different for Lake Minnetonka, had it not been for Arto Toikka, the 23-year old center fielder . Toikka stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Lake Minnetonka up, 3-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort," said Toikka after the game.
The 4th-place Love Boats now have a win-loss record of 20-16.
