The Billings Polar Bears got a strong performance from pitcher Tim Yoder, who stymied the Richland offense en route to a 3-1 win at Rails Ballpark. Yoder went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-1. Brandon Hughes notched his 28th save in 31 chances.

The Polar Bears beat the Rails in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Wilbur Thomas produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Richland pitcher Bumper Pool, Thomas gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Billings manager Ronald Harmon. "Our pregame was pretty good."
