The Highlanders had to overcome a good performance from Richland pitcher Cameron Thoresen to claim a 3-2 win at Asheville Park. Thoresen went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Reliever Alex Edgar picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Muoi Hoan took the loss. Asheville, at 52-41, sits in 4th place in the Menard's AA.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Asheville trailing 2-1, Lawrence O'Neal jumped on a 2-0 changeup from Muoi Hoan for a 2-run home run, sending the Highlanders to a walk-off win.

In comments to the Asheville Daily News, O'Neal admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
