Rapiers Win at Akron, 6-3
|
The Durham Rapiers topped the Akron Blimps, 6-3, in M3L Double A action at Goodyear Hanger Dome. The player of the game was Durham pitcher and Decín, Czech Republic native Valentyn Hochmiller. Curt Moore earned his 21st save in 22 chances. Durham is now 44-48, Akron 53-39.
The Rapiers used some clutch hitting to beat the Blimps, a good example being the at-bat of Kiyohira Kan in the top of the fourth. With two down, Kan gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
"It feels good to get this one," Kan told the Durham Daily News.
