Bethesda left fielder José Ortega was a significant contributor in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Akron Blimps. He went 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Bethesda. Sébastien Leroy got credit for the win, improving to 5-2. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 4.2 innings. The Atoms bumped their record to 53-36 with this latest triumph.
Río Blanco, Nicaragua-born Luis González came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd and the Atoms trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to right-center to put Bethesda on top.
González attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
