Tiburcio Pitches Gem against Philadelphia 1776
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Charleston Battery. The BC were overpowered by Charleston starter Melvin Tiburcio, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Josh Swain said.
Over 9 innings, Tiburcio blanked Philadelphia 1776 on 2 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Tiburcio said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season Tiburcio has a 5-6 record with a 4.16 ERA.
