Rails Trip Miners in Extras
|
The Richland Rails trumped the Marquette Miners, 7-5, at Marquette Stadium. Richland third baseman José Vargas was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Jing Hsi finished to wrap up his 7th save. Richland, at 38-47, sits in 9th place in the Menard's AA.
It could have been a different outcome for Richland, had it not been for Antoine Studdard, the 23-year old second baseman . Studdard contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning to put Richland up, 6-5.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Studdard. "I like it."
