The San Antonio BC and Akron Blimps obliged those fans who came to San Antonio Field hoping for nail-biter.
The Akron Blimps got a sterling performance from pitcher Odmar van Hees, but the BC still prevailed, 1-0. van Hees was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 9 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to Tuna Altuna in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Oakland Scanlan took the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when San Antonio second baseman Tong-sik Im, facing Vicente López, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the BC the 1-0 win.
"The old adage is true," said Im. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The BC' win now puts them at 34-46.
