Rainbow Mermaids Win Thriller, 7-4
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids put one in the win column on Opening Day at Atlantica. The Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-4. Northern Virginia catcher Tim Stinson was instrumental in his team's success. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4.
Stinson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the tenth. On a first pitch fastball from Júlio Rodríguez, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Stinson.
In postgame comments, Stinson said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
