In a low-scoring clash between Asheville and Ottawa, pitcher Alberto Ortíz was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Asheville in the 3-2 win. The Highlanders raised their record to 44-33.
Asheville took a 3-0 lead on Luis Romero's 85th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Romero hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Ottawa pitcher Lawrence Parsons visibly frustrated.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Ortíz. "I just want to win ballgames."
