BC Roll Over Miners, 9-4
|
Despite a great performance by Marquette third baseman Jorge Japón, the San Antonio BC defeated the Miners by the score of 9-4 at San Antonio Field. Japón hit 2 home runs. Tadayuki Ito picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 4 in 6 innings. Johnny O'Quinn earned the save for San Antonio, his 2nd of the year.
Alfonso Torres hit a 2-run double off Fernando Colón in the bottom of the sixth, which put the BC in front, 6-4. In addition to the double, Torres had 3 singles, while going 4 for 5.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Torres told the San Antonio Daily.
San Antonio now sits at 29-40, while Marquette falls to 22-47.
