Nationals Clip Rawhides in Tight Contest
|
In a low-scoring clash between Ottawa and Belvedere Park, pitcher Manu Jortikka was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned player of the game honors for Ottawa in the 3-2 win. Ottawa reliever Jesús Torres picked up the win to move to 3-4. Gregory Powers suffered the loss. Ottawa's record now stands at 37-29, placing them 4th in the Menard's AA.
Sallvador Rebola had a nice at-bat for the Nationals with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With a runner on 1st, the center fielder drew a walk, which would prove important in the Ottawa win.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Belvedere Park skipper Dave Webb, "and it cost us."
