Victory Over BC Takes Bethesda to 37-24
|
The Bethesda Atoms racked up a win at Atoms Field, bumping off the San Antonio BC, 4-0. Cristóbal Román, who started for Bethesda, pitched effectively for his team. Román, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Suhaila Zainuddin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities.
Rafael Barrueco had a big run-scoring double for the Atoms in the bottom of the first inning. With Bethesda leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Steve Fitzpatrick and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Atoms ahead, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Román told the Bethesda Herald.
Bethesda is now riding a 3-game win streak.
