5 Straight Wins for Highlanders
|
Asheville right-hander Albert Sierra made an effective start against the Marquette Miners at Marquette Stadium, leading his team to a 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Sierra, now 3-1. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Gunner Cross earned the save, his 14th.
Asheville used the timely hitting of Lawrence O'Neal to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Highlanders on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Marquette manager Enrique Marroquín said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Highlanders.
