Highlanders Get Road Win, 9-2
|
Marquette pitcher Greg Borges gave the Highlanders all they could handle, but in the end, Asheville left Marquette Stadium with a 9-2 win. Borges allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits over 7 innings. Vadim Rajnev was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Asheville.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Don Skerrett, the 27-year old third baseman . Skerrett contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Asheville up, 3-1.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Skerrett told the Asheville Daily News.
