Highlanders Turn Back Richland, 3-1

Fans who gathered at Rails Ballpark saw a good contest between the Asheville Highlanders and Richland Rails.
The Asheville Highlanders topped the Richland Rails, 3-1, in M3L Double A action at Rails Ballpark. The player of the game was Asheville pitcher and Brooklyn, New York native Alberto Ortíz. The second-place Highlanders now have a 7-game winning streak.
Asheville used the timely hitting of Don Skerrett to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
Ortíz called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
