Highlanders Get Road Win, 6-2
|
Asheville and San Antonio got after it at San Antonio Field.
Asheville starter Albert Sierra pitched effectively against the San Antonio BC at San Antonio Field. The right-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. Sierra, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up no walks.
Asheville used the clutch hitting of Lawrence O'Neal to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," O'Neal told the Asheville Daily News.
The losing streak for San Antonio has now reached 4 games.
