Ocasio Lifts Highlanders to 5-1 Win
|
A 3-RBI performance from designated hitter José Ocasio, who is tied for 7th in the 3AA in home runs with 6, led the Asheville Highlanders to a 5-1 win over the San Antonio BC. Manuel Medranda, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 2 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 2-4. Asheville now sits in 7th place in the Menard's AA at 21-19.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Carsello Scruggins, the top prospect . Scruggins contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Asheville up, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Scruggins said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
