The Starks had to overcome a good performance from Plymouth pitcher Jesús Fernández to claim a 5-3 win at Plymouth Quarry. Fernández went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Syracuse reliever Chris Hughes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-8. Lawrence Swift was saddled with the loss. The 8th-place Starks raised their record to 41-61.

It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Enrico Sánchez, the 33-year old shortstop . Sánchez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Syracuse up, 5-3.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Starks manager Kenny Billings. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
