Rawhides Beat Rails in 11
|
The Belvedere Park Rawhides beat the Richland Rails, 10-2, at Rails Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Junior Young, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Belvedere Park reliever Wesley Mason picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Felix Klapwijk was collared with the loss. The Rawhides saw their win-loss record go to 20-14. At the same time, the Rails fell to 13-21.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Tony Randolph came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Richland pitcher Felix Klapwijk, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Belvedere Park on top, 4-2.
"Nervous? No," said Randolph. "It was my time to shine."
