Voodoo Rally to Eke Out Win
The New Orleans Voodoo downed the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-7, at The Voodoo Lounge. The Voodoo were led by Jorge Alejándrez, who captured player of the game honors. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was New Orleans reliever Wu-ti Xuan, now 1-0. The loser was Tom King. The Voodoo improve their record to 37-37 with the win over Northern Virginia.

Late in the game, designated hitter Tae-cho Han had a big at-bat for New Orleans. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring triple off Bobby Ruegsegger. The play gave the Voodoo a 8-7 lead.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Alejándrez, "but we got it done."
