Redbirds Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus Plymouth
|
Plymouth center fielder Javier Murillo had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Memphis at Plymouth Quarry. Murillo went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Enrique Mateo picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-3. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Memphis bumps their record to 37-61 with the win.
Alejandro Arizméndiz had a big 2-run single for the Redbirds in the top of the sixth inning. With Memphis trailing 4-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Kong Li and stroked the single to right. It was his 72nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Redbirds ahead, 5-4.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Redbirds manager Elliott Taylor. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
