Highlanders Get One-Run Win at Billings
|
The Billings Polar Bears got a sterling performance from pitcher Albert Karlier, but the Highlanders still prevailed, 4-3. Karlier was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The win was Jake Haynes's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brant Mielke took the loss for Billings. The losing streak for Billings has now reached 4 games.
Asheville used the timely hitting of Carsello Scruggins to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Highlanders on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
