Santa Barbara rode a fine outing from starter Prince Michael Jackson to victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Monster Field. The final score was 6-2. The first-place Golden Cranes have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.

Xu Cheng had a big 2-run single for the Golden Cranes in the top of the fifth inning. With Santa Barbara leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from António Rodríguez and stroked the single to left-center. It was his 48th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Golden Cranes ahead, 4-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cheng. "And not try to do too much."
