5 Straight Wins for Highlanders
The Asheville Highlanders got a good effort from starter Patrick Nicolas in defeating the Bethesda Atoms at Atoms Field. The final score was 3-1. The winning pitcher was Nicolas, now 2-1. He tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Gunner Cross picked up the save for Asheville, his 5th of the year.

Asheville used the timely hitting of Luis Romero to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Highlanders on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was our day today," Nicolas told the Asheville Daily News. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."

The loss drops Bethesda to 11-8.
