The Chicago Silver Sox went home winners at Silver Sox Park, thanks in large part to starter Valentin Calhamar. Calhamar silenced the Charleston Battery, enabling Chicago to grab the 2-1 win. In 7 innings, Calhamar surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Shang-de Fu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 17 save opportunities.
Jonathan Gunner was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Chicago. The 27-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With no one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Kyuichi Hori. It was his 45th RBI of the season.
"We had a good game plan," Calhamar said, "and we were able to execute it."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Silver Sox.
