Both teams had their chances, but the Ottawa Nationals eventually prevailed at Asheville Park.
The Ottawa Nationals defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 7-6. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Kevin McIndeor, who went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Aki Sato, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
The Nationals grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth. With no one out, Júlio Moreno, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA in home runs with 3, hit a solo home run off Said Akimi, putting Ottawa in front, 7-3. For Moreno, it was his 3rd home run of the season.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Moreno.
Ottawa has a record of 6-8.
