With designated hitter Nelson Ross leading the charge, the Durham Rapiers defeated the Ottawa Nationals, 9-8, at Rapiers Ballpark. Ross went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Durham reliever Finley Berose, now 1-0. The loser was Aki Sato. The Nationals fall to 4-8 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2038 season.

The Rapiers were down to their final out when shortstop Jaxton Goleta turned a 1-2 fastball from Aki Sato into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double made the Rapiers Ballpark crowd go wild.

"What a game," said Goleta. "We needed every last run."
