Lake Monsters Deal Redlegs 5-1 Setback
|
Vermont rode a good effort from starter Santiago Pérez to beat the Sacramento Redlegs at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 5-1. Pérez, now 7-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Billy Threepwood earned the save, his 13th.
Vermont relied on the hitting of Cedric Terriquez to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 3-0. For the game, Terriquez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vermont manager José Zamora.
The Lake Monsters now have a record of 52-34 with the win over Sacramento.
