Tight Tilt Goes to Rawhides, 2-1

Rapiers Ballpark was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
António Fernández pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Durham Rapiers, despite Fernández's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Belvedere Park Rawhides at Rapiers Ballpark. Ed Kreuze closed it out for his 1st save.
Belvedere Park used the timely hitting of Richello Oliva to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rawhides on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Rawhides manager Dave Webb, "I like our chances."
The Rawhides keep rolling, raising their record to 5-3.
