Hotspur Reserves Get One-Run Win at Santa Barbara
|
Phoenix center fielder Ilkka Haapajarvi had a 3-RBI game, leading his team in its 7-6 defeat of the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes. Haapajarvi picked up 1 single and 1 double in the ballgame. Phoenix reliever Jason MacDonald was credited with the win, to go to 3-2. Pedro Aguilar took the loss for Santa Barbara. Juan Morán converted his 7th save in 7 tries.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Denny Pickett to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Hotspur Reserves ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Haapajarvi told a Phoenix Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The Hotspur Reserves now own a record of 38-47.
