Opsteegh goes 4-for-5, Leads Rails to Win
|
The Richland Rails bested the Ottawa Nationals by a score of 8-2, with designated hitter Falco Opsteegh getting the main credit. On the day, Opsteegh was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Rails. Maverick Handley was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. The loss drops Ottawa to 2-5.
Opsteegh had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-1 fastball from Luis Soto, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Rails a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Opsteegh.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Opsteegh after the game.
