Rails Turn Back San Antonio, 7-5

The Richland Rails defeated the San Antonio BC, 7-5, at Rails Ballpark. Richland third baseman Ernesto Rivera was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. The winner was Chris Abbott in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Harvey Wyles took the loss. Jim Perry finished the game for Richland and earned his 1st save.
Tied up with the BC in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Rails got a boost from left fielder Glenn Lockhart. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Lockhart saw a 3-1 splitter from Johnny O'Quinn and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Richland on top, 6-5.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Lockhart told the Richland News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
The win pushes Richland to a record of 2-4.
