1837 BBC Lose to Dodgers, 8-5
|
Brooklyn designated hitter Bill Chaundler was instrumental in his team's 8-5 win over the Houston 1837 BBC. Chaundler, who is tied for 10th in the 3L with a .302 batting average, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Dodgers. Davis Sawyer earned the win for Brooklyn. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 9-5. Ramón Granados notched his 34th save in 35 chances.
The result might have been different for Brooklyn, had it not been for Olaf Esveld. The catcher produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dodgers ahead, 7-5. For the game, Esveld had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Chaundler.
Houston has now lost 5 in a row.
