Mellor Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Kingston Township in Walk-Off Win
|
The Kingston Township Knights picked up a win at Cloverdale Legion Park, knocking off the Houston 1837 BBC, 4-1. Starting pitcher Pete Rhue, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Rhue, now 10-6. He tossed 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 9. The Knights bumped their record to 53-47 with this latest triumph.
Ed Mellor, who finished 2nd in the 3L in extra base hits with 61 last year, chipped in for Kingston Township with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Rhue told the Kingston Township Observer.
