Oaks Cut Down Patriots, 11-5
|
It was a fun time at Oakland Coliseum, where the Boston Patriots and Oakland Oaks tangled.
Starting pitcher Jeff Mahl pitched well enough to help the Oakland Oaks beat the Boston Patriots by the score of 11-5. Mahl, now 3-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 4 earned runs.
The Oaks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first. With no one out, Gabriel Montoya hit a 3-run home run off Firpo Marberry, putting Oakland in front, 4-0. For Montoya, it was his 11th home run of the season.
"We take it day by day here," said Montoya, "and today was a good one for us."
With the win over Boston, the Oaks improved to 20-48.
