Montana Bats Silenced by Beliago
|
The Montana Pandas manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Pandas were overpowered by Brooklyn starter Hermenegildo Beliago, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Andrew Schupick said.
Over 9 innings, Beliago blanked Montana on 1 hit with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Beliago said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
To date this season Beliago sports a 8-3 mark with a 3.39 ERA in 14 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .259 batting average and has 53 strikeouts in 93 innings.
