Dodgers Rally For Late Win Over Stingers
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers took Toledo pitcher José Ruíz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Pacesetter Park. The final score had Brooklyn getting past the Stingers, 5-3. Ruíz went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 7. Brooklyn reliever Manny Amici picked up the win to move to 1-1. Austin Aries suffered the loss. The Dodgers have an impressive 38-24 record.
The result might have been different for Brooklyn, had it not been for Tony Wonder, the former first round draft pick . Wonder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Brooklyn up, 4-3. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Brooklyn manager Erock Genova. "It's usually not just one thing."
