The Syracuse Starks defeated the Memphis Redbirds, 6-3, in USSL Triple A action at Stark Stadium, with Syracuse pitcher Dave McAlear named player of the game. McAlear, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Geunhye Kyoung, credited with the save, is now 7 for 8 in save opportunities.
Damon Newbold, who is tied for 10th in the SAAA in stolen bases with 13, aided the Syracuse cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
