Lake Monsters Squelch Rocks Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters went home winners at Plymouth Quarry, thanks in large part to starter Mike Hess. Hess silenced the Plymouth Rocks, enabling Vermont to grab the 3-0 win. Billy Threepwood got the save, his 10th in 11 chances. The win puts the Lake Monsters at 47-33, while the Rocks drop to 45-35.
In the top of the third, Vermont third baseman Domingo Zamora had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and no one out, Zamora stroked a run-scoring double to center. It made the score 1-0, Vermont. For the game, he went 1-4 with a double.
"Mike was pounding the zone," said Vermont manager José Zamora.
