Redbirds Lose, 5-3, at Monster Field
|
Vermont pitcher Santiago Pérez did his part in helping his team beat the Memphis Redbirds, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Pérez went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-0. Billy Threepwood converted his 9th save in 10 tries.
Marcel Roks dealt the Redbirds a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Vermont leading 3-0, Roks, who leads the SAAA in doubles with 24, hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run double.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vermont manager José Zamora.
With the win, the Lake Monsters have a record of 46-32.
