Starks Get Road Win, 4-1
|
Syracuse and Vermont duked it out at Monster Field and the Starks came out victorious.
Pitcher Masamichi Nakagawa was sensational for the Syracuse Starks in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. Nakagawa received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Nakagawa, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Greyfriars Bobby closed the door for Syracuse, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Atanza Vongor to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Starks the lead, 3-0. For the game, Vongor had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Syracuse manager Kenny Billings.
The Starks raised their record to 28-44.
