Hotspur Reserves Jolt Redlegs with Late Rally
|
Phoenix Hotspur Reserves starter Larry Souder kept the Sacramento Redlegs hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-1 win. The win puts the Hotspur Reserves at 30-38, while the Redlegs drop to 32-36.
The result might have been different for Phoenix, had it not been for Denny Pickett. The third baseman produced a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hotspur Reserves ahead, 2-1. For the game, Pickett had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Phoenix manager Jack Clayton. "Our pregame was pretty good."
