The Pawnee ParksNRec defeated the Syracuse Starks, 5-3, at Stark Stadium today. Leading the charge for Pawnee was third baseman Ashton Bailey. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Victor Heuvelink got the win, improving to 7-5. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. Milton Mathews locked down his 8th save.
Bailey had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch slider from Chris Hughes, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the ParksNRec a 3-2 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Bailey.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Bailey said.
Today's win puts Pawnee at 34-32, while Syracuse falls to 25-41.
