Murillo Belts Bunch of Base Hits
|
After his 5-hit effort at Lansing Park was tarnished by Plymouth's 5-4 loss to the Memphis Redbirds, right fielder Javier Murillo told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."
He didn't get the win, but the 23-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-8 game against the Redbirds.
"His swing is getting there," said Rocks skipper John Bush after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Javier did that to perfection today and we wasted it."
Javier Murillo grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and struck out in the 15th.
This season in 63 games Murillo is batting .242 with 3 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 25 times.
