Golden Cranes Defeat Starks, 5-2
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes defeated the Syracuse Starks, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Stark Stadium. Mike Strickland received player of the game honors. The 1-year veteran went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Prince Michael Jackson got credit for the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. Adam Garrison was credited with the save for Santa Barbara, his 1st of the season.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fourth inning. Facing Syracuse hurler Chris Hughes, James Pike, who is tied for 2nd in the SAAA in hits with 65, reached on an error by the 3B. The Golden Cranes went on to win.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Strickland.
The Golden Cranes improved to a lofty 40-16.
