Rocks Drop Another One
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Plymouth Rocks, 8-3, at Monster Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder An-te-hai Qing, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mark Clift was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The slumping Rocks have dropped 6 in a row.
The Lake Monsters grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With one out, Ray Carey hit a grand slam home run off Artie Best, putting Vermont in front, 4-2. For Carey, it was his 8th home run of the season.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Carey.
