Redlegs Score Late to Upend Hotspur Reserves, 6-5
|
The Redlegs had to overcome a fine performance from Phoenix pitcher Neal Burns to grab a 6-5 win at Thunderbirds Stadium. Burns allowed 3 earned runs over 7.1 innings. Philip Hynes picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Coy Mitoglou was tagged with the loss. The 8th-place Redlegs lifted their record to 15-21.
This game was not decided until Joe Clark came to bat in the top of the ninth. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, the Sacramento designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly. The Redlegs took the lead, 6-5.
"It was our day today," Clark told the Sacramento Times. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
